One thing I feel I could do to improve my research is to work more collaboratively with other scientists. When it comes to teamwork, 1 + 1 can equal more than 2! I think that’s a good lesson for anyone, scientist or not – reach out to others for help, ask questions, and be generous with your time to others who come to you!

Discipline myself to work on really big important questions. One of the great things about ecology and environmental science is that there are a vast number of research topics and questions to choose from, and earlier in my career I tended to work on problems that were easier to address. But life is short, and I need to have the confidence to focus on the research questions that matter most given my technical training.
