That’s difficult to answer… I feel so amazed when I realize that everything in The Earth (mountains, rivers, icebergs…) and in the other planets was here before me and they are going to be here a very long, long, long time after me!! They are changing and some things maybe are going to disappear, but the world and the universe is going to last a long time after I die. For me, this is huge!!
Where do I begin? I am fascinated by how complex it is and love thinking about how all the “pieces,” from soil particles to bacteria to trees and elephants fit and work together. There are relatively simple rules that seem to explain how most of it works, but at the same time, scientists are discovering new things about nature literally every second!

Humans ultimately come from nature, and I find being in nature to be a great way to shift my perspective and return to an older set of rules, and particularly an older timeline. Watching seasons unfurl, or returning to the same spot after a few weeks and seeing how a plant has grown, is a good reminder that there’s a whole world going on outside of human affairs. Hiking deep in the woods and finding a soda can is a reminder that that world depends on our stewardship.
